"Are You Wavy?" - Survey Mock Up & Further Ideas

Mini Survey Mock - Up:

      ☞ are you wavy?
Concept:9 Questions
9 answer cards to choose from

= 9 segments of artwork, that when pieced together - make up a portrait of the participant and ultimately visualise their survey results + the impact of psychoactive substances on them and their creativity.

Aim: To visually convey the results of the survey and a psychedelic "portrait" of the participants - showing the influence psychoactive substances have had on their lives and creativity.

Could be rolled out to:

  • LCA students +/or contacts +/or staff +/or colleagues (for a more specific collection of survey results, research Q aimed directly at creatives / creative community / education sector?)
  • Medical / Science community (for a more specific collection of survey results, research Q aimed directly at the medical sciences for an understanding of a medical point of view / varying medical professions)
  • Everyone, to gain a much broader understanding of psychoactive substances and the impact they have had on varying cultures within society as a whole. (Could investigate / compare varying cultures and their answers - any patterns/correlation?) Male vs female responses? Varying ages / generations? Varying religious beliefs and practices?
Further in depth research idea:
  • Could narrow down my research further by rolling out a more specific group of survey questions and direct these just to those who HAVE had experience with psychoactive substances...in particular those of a psychedelic nature: Psilocybin, Mescaline, LSD etc.
  • This would essentially be a survey/ group of questions directed at those most in the know about these substances (in terms of first hand experience) and I would be interested to see new information emerge from this.
         Such as:
  • - are their any patterns / links between specific substances and creativity? i.e - More creative impact when experiencing one substance vs experience / impact of another substance
  • - what the psychedelic experience has meant to these more seasoned "in the know" participants -  both creatively and in respect of their lives on the whole, (spirituality, consciousness, relationships, day to day life, medical conditions, opinions on the world, the future, progression, technology etc etc.)
  • Compare these more theory & research specific survey results, with those resulting from my more broad investigation. e.g: medical science survey answers/response VS the seasoned psychedelic response.
- Examples of psychedelic experienced groups / communities to roll out this more specific survey / interactive questionnaire

Further ideas for this survey and visual response:

COULD THIS LINK TO RORSCHACH TEST IN SOME WAY?

How do our experiences with psychoactive substances impact our creativity/imagination/response to the rorschach test?

What does this mean for our personalities? (what a rorschach test is now used to determine...not schizophrenia!)
- Image being built up by the answer card segments is a rorschach ink blot?

The correlation between answer and rorschach ink blot image?....

Depending on the answer - that segment/card/specific focal area (cards cut and segmented to reflect this/make this possible) of the overall Rorschach will be coloured / highlighted in some way.

Are people who have a had more experience of psychedelics, have a more positive opinion of the substances, think that these substances impact our creativity to a greater extent - more likely to respond to the rorschach more imaginatively? unrealistically? creatively? abnormally? etc (see rorschach ink blot test slides and the various stages/their meaning)

Are people who have had little to no experience of psychoactive substances, have a more negative opinion of them or have the least impact on the participant - more likely to respond to the rorschach test in a normal, completely expected way?

Concept:

Beginning with slide one, the participant would look at the this first original inkblot test and write what they see.
They could then answer the 9 questions laid out on the table next to this first slide of the Rorschach test.

Each question has 3 answer cards in which the participant needs to select based on which is the most appropriate answer for them.

After all the questions have been answered and the 9 selected answer cards collected and flipped over to reveal the artwork...

>>The 9 cards would then make up the slide 1 rorschach ink blot image. Except now the 9 cards reflect the answers the participant made in response to my 9 questions about psychedelics. We can now see if the cards show any correlation between artwork, colour, inkblot and answer. Are the more colourful cards (the chosen card with the more positive response) still highlighting the areas of the rorschach test that the participant originally saw?

What does this mean in terms of their personality scoring (see rorschach test guidelines/research etc)
