Note on funding for psychedelic research
Easy to get government funding for studies into the chemistry of these substances and to prove their harmful uses, however to make steps into researching into the positive uses and medicinal benefits - funding needs to come from elsewhere including fundraisers and private investors. This is mainly due to the money being made from the pharmaceutical companies and the protection of these organisations and the impact on the economy through the money pharmaceuticals make.

Relevance and ideas to take forward:
Maps is the main psychedelic research organisation with many studies under its belt. Therefore it is a great source for keeping up to date with psychedelic & psychoactive substance research as well as referring to archived studies. This makes MAPS a key source to help inform my essay & overall CoP2 topic. In addition they have some really interesting articles on the creative benefits of psychedelics. Something which i hope to be able to focus my studies even further on - linking directly to the course and my core interests as a creative practitioner.
